The Second World
1989. The Trade Union Solidarity changes the face of politics in Poland, the peace movement challenges old communism in East Germany, in Hungary they’re tearing down the electric fence which separates them from Austria. But in Romania nothing shifts. Ceausescu is re-elected supreme leader and speaks to his people, receiving thirty-four ‘spontaneous’ standing ovations.
But Toma has a plan. If he can outwit the Securitate and keep his girlfriend onside, he believes he can change the world.
The Second World was produced at LAMDA in 2011.
